Join Tamara Anderson from the Guelph Outdoor School and other staff as we enter the Speed River in search of crayfish and other aquatic creatures. You’ll learn how to tell the difference between male and female crayfish and find out how aquatic creatures help us evaluate water quality in our watershed.
NOTE: This stretch of the river has many invisible hazards (possibly broken glass and old metal pieces) so ABSOLUTELY NO BARE FEET ARE ALLOWED). PLEASE BE SURE TO BRING A PAIR OF WATER SHOES FOR EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RIVER.
Park in the parking lot off Gordon St by the covered bridge. One entrance to this parking lot enters at the Boathouse, and there are other entrances to the lot a bit north of this on Gordon St. Together we will walk over the bridge to find an access point to the river.
