2022 2Rivers Festival

Reaching the River's Edge.

This theme encompasses an invitation to all community members to bring their stories and share together on the shores of these rivers - the pulsing vein of life through this landscape. In the past the 2Rivers Festival has focused predominantly on local ecology. As our collective awareness grows, so too grows the understanding for the need to learn more about the myriad intersectional issues that compound and exacerbate ecological problems. Who's stories have not been told?

This year's theme also invites us to consider the ways in which we are in reciprocity with this local water source. As the speed and Eramosa in all their beauty and generosity call us to engage, we too can reach toward her and ask the question, How might we be in service?

The river's edge is a liminal space between water and land. As we reconsider and re-imagine the ways in which the 2Rivers Festival can be effective in increasing the overall health of this part of the watershed, this liminal space feels appropriate. Reaching the River's Edge can be envisioned as a welcoming point on our journey - to stop, reflect and feel sustained - but also acknowledge that our journey is still continuing on.
