Celebrating Water through Sound and Word
The Silence Collective - a group of musicians, poets, and a filmmaker - imagined the Grand River Watershed as a living being with stories and memories to share. A recording was generated that combined impressionistic sounds with poetic images from Karen Houle and Madhur Anand. New instruments were designed for this project to convey the spirit of water. All these components merged with cinematic elements captured by Jeff Bird. Our RiverChants presentation will audition portions of the soundtrack, demonstrate a few of the instruments used, and share how this project developed during the restrictions of a pandemic. The hour long session will leave room for questions, answers, and responses to the offering.
